Brian Wardle was at Taylor Bruninga's game Friday.
Bruninga had 10 points, and left in 2nd quarter with ankle injury

IB 71 - Hart-Em 54

The performance of the night locally was Olympia's Charles Payton, who recently committed to juco
He had 29 points, 20 rebounds, 11 blocks in Olympia's 62-59 win over Bloomington Central Catholic

Bad High Ankle Sprain.... Still out

Was suppose to visit Vandy last Saturday but was getting ankle check out instead. Nothing new in terms of offers. Injury put things more at a stand still right now.

is he gonna play baseball this spring? Baseball practice starts Feb. 27 but I suspect he hopes to still be playing basketball in March!
They'll prob be in the Farmington Regional then Olympia Sectional. Pairings & seedings to be announced today!

Future BU MBB Recruiting

Future BU MBB Recruiting

Top 2 Questions For BU Coaches/Scouts Recruiting Players...

1. Can they shoot FT's?
2. Can they make lay ups in traffic, off balance, and on the run?

That seems to be what BU is currently missing, among many other things...

We can worry about running, jumping, quickness, toughness, defense, rebounding, jump shooting, 3 point shooting, understanding offensive schemes, understanding defensive schemes, adjusting to competition, etc later...

Taylor Bruninga has been out with ankle injury for a week and a half, but is back playing tonight against 6-19 Illini Central
Valpo has been in to see him and they are still sitting on 3 open scholarships - so you gotta wonder if they will offer soon..

Actually, the only people the NCAA allows to recruit off campus are the head coach or one of 3 allowable assistant coaches. But it is widely known that some schools get "scouting reports" from "independent" evaluators.

Actually, the only people the NCAA allows to recruit off campus are the head coach or one of 3 allowable assistant coaches. But it is widely known that some schools get "scouting reports" from "independent" evaluators.

The "scout" being referred to was former Bradley player Charles White. Not sure who he is affiliated with anymore.

....seems like we've seen reports of at least 20-30 schools......including just about every one of the MVC schools

.... 10 schools, not 20 or 30.
... Four MVC schools have been to see him ..

So just as an updated summary - and correct me if I got this wrong...
but I am basing this list only on reports cited in this thread - and there's even a few more elsewhere (on the Valpo board) that I am not gonna count...

Three schools have offered (apparent number of available scholarships in parentheses)
ISU (1)
UNI (1)
EIU (3)

other schools that have been said to have "been in to see him", have "expressed interest", "inquired", or have hosted him or watched him play
(the number cited for scholarships available of course could change)

Indiana (0 - already oversigned)
Wisconsin (1)
Illinois (2)
Kansas (1)
UCLA (0 - already oversigned but will certainly lose a couple to the NBA)
Bradley (0 - oversigned)
Vanderbilt (2)
Creighton (2)
Rice (1)
Kansas State (2)
Drake (2)
WIU (1)
SIUE (2)
Indiana State (0)
Loyola (0)
UIC (0 - oversiged)
Wright State (2)
Valparaiso (3)
South Dakota (0 - oversigned)
(so that's at least six MVC schools and maybe at least 22 overall...)

Still waiting for Disturbed's news...we're "staying tuned"...

Taylor Bruninga's AAU coach is reporting that Taylor just got an offer from Loyola but as noted above, they do not have a scholarship available...

they are at 12 scholarship players currently, have two signed guys (Krutwig & Negron) coming in, and their only scholarship seniors is Milton Doyle

(Alex) Sorenson was at Northern Michigan (Tough D2 League). Played alot as a freshman. Just didn't love the U-P. North Central still in big time D3 League- much more his style outside of Basketball. /..

Former Bradley recruit Alex Sorenson (Dunlap) had a career night at Illinois Wesleyan and ruined their Senior Night..
NCC won 82-80 with Sorenson going 6-10 from the arc and scoring 27 points to go with 11 rebs, 3 asst, 2 blks

Here's another kid...Tyler Hall, from Rock Island... - 6-4 sophomore
(putting up 23 points per game for Montana State!! Averaged 19.2 ppg last year as a freshman there.)

virtually nobody recruited the kid despite him being a great 3-pt shooter and scorer..
Geno never even looked at the kid...he signed with MSU in fall of 2014
https://twitter.com/dbiz20/status/833158270474973185

but he's the premier 3-pt shooter in all of Division I currently and has already scored 1195 points in his college career and he's not even done with his sophomore campaign!

Bucknell offered Bruninga a scholarship today.

also has William & Mary and Pepperdine reportedly in to see/evaluate
so the number of schools is up to 25 and he holds 4 offers - EIU, ISU, UNI and Loyola with at least one of those may reportedly include plans to redshirt first year

Bucknell has offered as well. IPFW will be in for the Regional Championship tonight as well.

Will take some visits after season ends and then make a decision.

betcha he's waiting to see if another scholarship opens at Bradley - I know this is really where he wants to play..! ;)

Taylor Bruninga's season is over...
his Illini Bluffs team lost to Tremont in their Regionals..
Bruninga had 30
http://ihsa.org/?url=/data/scores/bkb2.htm

Peoria Quest and Olympia both won their Regionals and advance

Chicago Uplift also loses in an upset...to lower seed Orr but it may have been the two best 2A teams in IL meeting in Regionals.
Uplift had two Division I players (one going to SIU and one to Kansas ...but Kansas bound Markese Jacobs was surprisingly in street clothes and did not play - no explanation given)

*Note- despite scoring 30, Bruninga was said in the coverage to have been hampered by the ankle injury and was not 100%
