Burch MIA?

Very sad. A fan favorite...my son's fave, as you can see by my Avatar.
His work ethic and attitude was one to admire. I don't know what turned.

Fwiw - Burch is like the LAST guy I would have expected to have issues with Coach Wardle.
Not that I know him that well, but my encounters with him gave me the impression he was a total team guy - very respectful and unselfish person.
I guess you can't judge a book by its cover, but it's just a shame that this season hasn't panned out well for him, and he's human with emotions. We don't know all the happens off the court. And the DB Jr. departure without a nice warm farewell still has me smh.

And it could be Wardle being hard nosed,my way or the highway.I hope the truth comes out.We as fans and supporters have a right to know.

For sure on both points.
Every season (except maybe last yr and the 1st one), someone has been in Wardle's doghouse.

Hope this is true, hope he gets his head in straight and play the way that is expected of him if he somehow returns to the rotation before the season ends.

Burch was/is sick. He isn't gone.
do you have some evidence or facts that he is sick? … or is this some irrelevant claim because that’s how you feel?

Da Coach is a pretty solid source of information- i see his post saying “rumor is he’s gone”

Wouldn’t be surprised if he did leave. This wouldn’t be the first player Wardle has fumbled. Examples- Terry Roberts, Connor Hickman, Jayson Kent… I truly hope Burch isn’t added to this list but again I wouldn’t find it surprising one bit.

We had a big win without him last night, that doesn’t help his case in any matter. It just leaves me wondering though- we bench a veteran player who gets paid one of the higher NIL’s… we are paying players now to sit? Burch is a team player but you have to think these kids might not even care to play because they get paid either way.
I understand there needs to be some repercussions for his play recently but damn, taking him out of the line up and then to just sit at the end of the bench for 2-3 games- that’s the right play here?

Have always been a proponent of pay based on play or how you practice. If not giving maximum effort, then your NIL pay should be adjusted accordingly. Like any private sector job, you get told of your job performance. After a while then you are terminated if performance does not improve. These young men are now playing for pay and should be treated just the same. Hope Burch comes around if he is still with the team. Old saying rings true of addition through subtraction. My humble opinion on the matter. Any one else want to share their thoughts.

I think this information is coming from the program. Because TV and Radio said he was sick.

As for players that BW has "fumbled", I don't think any of these are good examples. Roberts left to make more money at an SEC program, Connor wanted to pay at a "high major", and Jayson's numbers at Bradley never really dictated more time based on the players we had. Plus, allegedly he wanted to play with Avila, who he either went to HS with or played AAU with.

I am not saying that BW has been great with all players that have come into the program, but those aren't good examples.

Not gonna happen... I mean you might get fired at your job, but have you ever had your salary adjusted week to week because you had an off day or 2?

This type of evaluation or adjustment of NIL $$ or scholarship renewal is only going to take place in the off season.

Not to mention how would that even be evaluated?... just the coaches opinion if you lived up to your NIL?...there would have to be specifics in the contract related to performance goals, which will never happen, because the playing time and ability to achieve all of those are beyond the players control...I can't imagine the lawsuits that would be brought forth by the players against schools and coaches who benched them and didn't allow them to play for their "incentives".

Nightmare city in an already circus atmosphere.

The NCAA basically has only 1 rule regarding NIL payment- The NCAA rules explicitly state that Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) compensation cannot be based on athletic performance. Payment can only be an exchange for services, such as autographs, endorsements, or appearances, and cannot function as "pay-for-play".

I like my sources. But if you want to see his OSF after visit summary, I'd suggest getting ahold of him.

Terry Roberts was a first team all MVC guy that went and got paid nearly 6 figures in the first days of NIL.

Connor Hickman had 3 really good years here and wanted to go compete at the P4 level. That didn't work out because of his body letting him down, but he got a very nice payday from it.

Jayson Kent was a guy (or family) who didn't want to accept the coaching staff's plan for his development. If you go back and look at his first year at Indiana State, it was similar or worse than his last year at BU. Because he didn't buy into his role there either. Then when he did (which was a very similar plan that existed here. And he did really well in his last year in Terre Haute.

I sure hope you're right JMM! Burch has had a rough go with injuries and illnesses since last season.
He has invested a lot into the program (and I believe the program has reciprocated!)
I was afraid O-Show would be gone after his Freshman season...and then after Soph, but he decided to stay.
I don't think Coach has benched him for longer than he should during his time at BU...with the exception of lately, but gotta think his back problems had something to do with that. The guy has only attempted a couple dunks all season and he's a high flyer!

Gotta think he likes being in Peoria...but u never know what can turn away someone.

Hope you are right about this Da Coach as that would make us even more formidable going down the stretch and into St. Louis. And now with Dietrich Richardson starting to come along, hopefully that will make Bradley harder to beat.
