Bradley Athletics Fan Advisory Council created

One of the things discussed at the Bradley Fan Advisory Council was more engagement by the athletes with the community. Hopefully, we'll see that. Here is something that Northern Iowa basketball players and other athletes are doing in Cedar Falls next week-

Judge issues ruling that immediately makes all Class of 2022 athletes eligibile for 2026-27 - That would include Meta & AJ Smith.

Another injunction against the NCAA's decision not to include the class that just ended their 4-year eligibility last spring. Today's injunction was issued in an Indiana state court, and applies to 97 athletes who have some standing in the state of Indiana, apparently either residents of Indiana...

    Any Mike Ditka fans here?

I ate a couple times at the downtown Ditka's Restaurant on Chestnut St. before it closed. The steaks were absolutely the best, but a bit pricey.

George Baseleon was the man who played First Mate Salty Sam on the WEEK-TV show "Captain Jinks and Salty Sam". Stan Lonergan played Captain Jinx (except for the first year, he was played by Hal Searles).

    Any Mike Ditka fans here?

I saw this article today about former Chicago Bears player and coach Mike Ditka. It was posted on The Athletic by sportswriter Dan Pompeii, but requires a subscription to read there. But the NY Times has the article for free, and if anyone is a Chicago Bears fan or just a fan of Mike Ditka, it's...

    Players from the past

Yes, I am aware of the A.J. Robertson picture (I think it's a painting, not a photo) in the Ren-Col museum (officially named the Burklund Family Heritage Hall). But I'm not aware that most of the huge photos of the great Bradley athletes that hung in the Fieldhouse foyer are there.

    Players from the past

My friend, whose brother was a past Bradley HOF athlete, and who had one of those huge photos hanging in the Fieldhouse foyer, has been trying for years to find out what happened to those photos. He has tried calling everyone, including Corky Robertson (when he was still alive) and nobody seems...

    Players from the past

Yeah, that is a shame. I talked to a couple people today who both had relatives who were among those enshrined in the Greater Peoria Sports Hall of Fame and had commemorative plaques at the Arena. They were unaware this was happening, and were very upset.

    Players from the past

That is really sad. I can't believe they are removing all those plaques and disposing of them for next-to-nothing. They don't even give a reason. And the part about replacing it with a future display, I am not holding my breath. Can't they find room at the Peoria Riverfront Museum or somewhere...

Old Time Trivia- Peoria Restaurants That I Miss...

When I was a Bradley student, there was a pizza restaurant on the other side of University St. named LaHood's. It did not survive long, probably because of the competition from Avanti's, but their pizza was great, better than Avanti's, IMO. They had a special 10-inch pizza for $1, which we...
